More Calls For Fire Cut To Be Scrapped

Kevin Foster, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Torbay, has renewed his calls for Devon & Somerset Fire Authority to withdraw a proposal to cut fire cover in Torquay after a stormy consultation meeting at the Riviera Centre on Tuesday 9th April 2013.

Leading Conservative Calls On Fire Authority To Withdraw Dangerous Proposal To Cut Fire Cover At Torquay Fire Station. Kevin Foster, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Torbay, has today (Wednesday, 27th March 2013) written to the Chair of Devon & Somerset Fire Authority calling on the authority to withdraw a proposal to reduce fire cover in Torquay. Earlier this year the Authority unveiled 11 proposals with one, known as Proposal 10, being to change the crewing arrangements of the second fire appliance at Torquay from whole time to “on call”. This proposal would see the number of firefighters available at the station for immediate deployment reduced from 9 to 5.
