TORBAY LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS – 5th MAY 2011
ELLACOMBE WARD
Anne Brooks

I love Torbay and having attended Warberry and Westlands Schools, I know the Ellacombe area well. With a degree {from the University of Plymouth} in Environmental Science I take a keen interest in
protecting the natural features and wildlife that make Torbay so special and draw visitors. I have worked in laboratories at Torbay Hospital, South Devon College, and Brixham Community College. At present I work for the Environment Agency. {I've also done voluntary work at Torre Abbey and Torbay arts events.}
I am passionate to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives
and works here. I'll strive to improve the built up area with cleaner, safer, well maintained streets. We need to resist the cramming of ever smaller flats into already overcrowded areas, encouraging family homes.
I will work hard to enhance our roads, public areas & green spaces for the enjoyment, and well being of young and old alike.
Educational opportunities are crucial to our future. I loved my school days, and long to see our youngsters reach their full potential by developing all sorts of skills and interests; including activities to foster the area's community spirit.
Tourism is still key to our economy. In addition, I believe, we need to develop and utilise homegrown businesses and skills. If we don't support our own local shops and businesses.....who will?
If you elect me I promise to do my best to represent you. Taking time to listen to your problems and engage in resolving them. I hope that you will support me.
Vincent Williams

My commitment to the residents of Ellacombe
A Londoner, I have been a Torquay resident since 1999 - I just love it here! My two adult daughters were both educated in Torquay and my son is now a year 7 pupil at Westlands School. But more importantly - my wife is very happy here.
-
My business is internet based, I work with clients based around the world. As such, I generally work from home allowing me to remain resident here in Torquay.
-
As a businessman my clients judge me on both my personal integrity and professional reputation - I would expect nothing less from the residents of Ellacombe.
