BLATCHCOMBE WARD

Jeanette Richards

Since 2005, it has been my privilege and pleasure to serve the residents of Blatchcombe, assisting them with the various problems that have arisen in their neighbourhood, ranging from housing difficulties (including Park Homes on Totnes Road), working with PCSO's on anti-social behaviour issues, resolving situations when the new recycling arrangements were introduced with Tor2 in September 2010, attending numerous resident associations and ward partnership meetings. I am a governor of both South Devon College and Kings Ash Primary School and have been extremely successful in obtaining various funding grants for both events and projects within the ward, more recently obtaining funds for Foxhole United Football kits and transport arrangements. I was a key player in the negotiations of the rebuilding of Foxhole Community Centre on the school campus and continue to serve on this committee. I am Vice-Chairman of the Great Parks Community Centre and have helped to resurrect this centre; together with a very strong community led committee we now provide activities for our young people including youth club, judo, craft classes, etc. We continue to hold our councillor surgeries at Great Parks Community Centre on the last Saturday of each month from 10am giving us another opportunity to meet with you.

Dave Thomas

David Thomas was elected to Torbay Council in May 2007 to represent the people of Blatchcombe. Since being elected he has been extremely active in the council and has served as Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chairman of the Health Scrutiny Committee, a Trustee of the Citizens Advice Bureau to name but a few. However his reason for getting into politics has remained steadfast and is still as strong today as it was 4 years ago, and that is to do his best for the people of Blatchcombe. During the last 4 years he has helped numerous residents with their various problems and has been instrumental in most of the great achievements of the ward including a new community centre for Foxhole residents, new housing across the ward, a reinvigorated community centre at Great Parks, a new school at Kings Ash, laying of double yellow lines in Waterleat Road, new University buildings at South Devon College, new business units at White Rock Business Park. As you can see the work on getting better outcomes for Blathcombe has only just started, working together we can keep this momentum going.

John Thomas

Councillor John Thomas both lives in and represents the Blatchombe Ward of Torbay. Prior to his retirement he was Managing Director of several British manufacturing companies but subsequent to retirement he felt compelled to give something back to society. He therefore successfully stood for election as a Torbay Councillor in 2007. He enjoys helping constituents who need his assistance and has successfully resolved many difficulties on behalf of those whom he represents.
